Many cafés in Japan are styled around video games, anime series, and other related fandoms. While some of these are short-lived pop-ups, others have grown into well-known restaurants. There are several places where fans of One Piece, one of the most watched anime series in Japan, may eat food inspired by the show. Some are located inside theme parks, such Sanji’s Restaurant at Universal Studios Japan, while others are no longer open, like the Mugiwara Cafe at the now-closed One Piece Tokyo Tower. There was once a real Baratie that was designed to resemble the restaurant ship that sailed the seas and employed Sanji. But up until now, you would have required to travel to Japan in each of these situations! Greatness LLC announced on Friday that it is opening the first official One Piece Café in the United States in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 11. This announcement comes in response to the growing popularity of the One Piece brand, which has been fueled by the excitement created by Eiichiro Oda’s ongoing series and Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the series.
A few of the recipes that are inspired by One Piece are the Japanese Fruit Sando, which is Robin’s favorite; Stretchy Mochi Cookies and Gum-Gum Fruit Mousse Bomb; Big Mom’s Wedding Cake, which seems like a wonderful option for any tea party from hell; and Mighty Meats Pirates Platter, which is a hearty dish fit for Luffy, the future king of the pirates.
Other character-inspired dishes include Banban’s Pepper & Egg Fried Rice, which is a specialty of Sanij’s mentor Zeff, Zoro’s Onigiri, which is named after one of his trademark moves and also happens to be the Japanese term for “rice balls,” and Tajio’s Beef Curry, which is served by an aspiring Marines chef that the crew met after Alabasta.
Drinks: what is a café without them? The café serves a variety of drinks, such as the carefully prepared Mikan Tangerine Slushy by Nami, the All Blue Mocktail, which Sanji should hopefully be able to locate, Franky’s Coke-a-Cola Ice Cream Float, which is sure to be a GREAT choice, and Pumpkin Juice, which is probably what Straw Hat musician Brook would drink if he weren’t a skeleton. HOHOHOHOHOHOHO!
The official website of the café has the complete menu available. Additionally, the café will sell unique items like hats, sweaters, and t-shirts. Luffy and Zoro will make cameo appearances during the grand launch on May 11 at 11:00 a.m., along with giveaways.
Las Vegas, NV 89146, 5600 Spring Mountain Rd Ste A is the address of The One Piece Café. Every day from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., the cafe will be open.
Toei Animation, the animation studio behind One Piece, and restaurateur Andy Nguyen of Greatness LLC collaborated on the new café. Based on Sonic the Hedgehog, Greatness LLC also developed the Sonic Speed Cafe.
